Chapel House Prayer

Thank you, Lord, for
This time, this place;
This house, this home;
This love, this warmth;
This family, these friends.

Please bless, Lord,
My family, friends,
Love(s), and acquaintances,
Wherever they might be.
And please bless, Lord,
My opponents, adversaries,
Enemies, and those
Whom I have not yet
Had the chance to offend.

Thank you, Lord, for
Forgiveness, and
For your lessons.
Would that I might,
Someday,
Be worthy of
Either one.

A Simple Catechism

God speaks to Everything:
To Force in Mandate,
To Mass in Commandment,
To Plant and Animal In Song,
And to Man in Whisper-Feeling.

With All That's Within Us

Most gracious lord who hears us when we call, we beseech your heart as we bring forward our concerns for the welfare of this world:

Comfort and provide for those who are without food and for those who will go hungry tonight,
With all that's within us, we call upon your name.

For those whose daily struggle it is make ends meet,
With all that's within us, we call upon your name.

For those who are homeless and have nowhere to lay their weary heads,
With all that's within us, we call upon your name.

For those who struggle to keep hope alive when they have lost everything.
With all that's within us, we call upon your name.

For those who are starved, malnourished, and deprived,
With all that's within us, we call upon your name.

For those who stand in the gap to help your beloved, the hungry, the neglected, and the poor,
With all that's within us, we call upon your name.

Lord, empower our minds, our hearts, our hands, and our feet, that in serving you we will bring glory and honor to you name. Amen.

And To Love

All will be at peace,
And all will rest,
In His time,
And in ours.

You have but
To act with honor,
and to love.

A person without honor
Is an insufferable thing.
But one without love
Is an indictment of all.

It is true, that said
By Jerusalem's king of old.
There is nothing new
Under God's Sun,
Though much has been
Forgotten on His Earth.

Though dusts fired
In the bellies of stars
Flow through your veins,
Spirit is vexed and
Hearts are broken apart,
By vanity and fear,
On this and every evening.

Yet the Sun also rises,
And the Earth abides;
Forgiveness is free
But for the asking.

You are meant to love,
And to be with honor.
All else is vanity
On this Earth,
Under this Sun.
To Know and To See

the signature of Youth
is not knowing
a good deal
when it's right
in front of you.

the signature of Old Age
is not seeing
a good deal
when it's right
in front of you.

the signature of Adulthood
is having to do
all of the
knowing and seeing
for everyone else.
