WHAT DOES EPISCOPALIAN EVEN MEAN?
The Episcopal Church is the Church of England on U.S. soil. No, you do not have to be British to come to an Episcopal or Anglican church. It’s simply the shorthand for the tradition in which we are rooted. Many of those at Chapel House (including the priest!) come from other denominational or even unchurched backgrounds. The Anglican Church is found on every continent across the globe, and is connected together by our commitment to the theology of the Nicene, Apostle’s, and Athanasian Creeds as well as the three-fold offices of bishop, priest, and deacon. Our worship is liturgical, meaning we all participate in the service through song, prayers, reading the Bible, and Communion. Liturgy does not mean stuffy or formal, however. We’re a casual bunch. Come as you are to the Chapel!
